Food for Thought
Providing healthy meals for stronger minds.
Every day, in our own community, hunger is preventing children from reaching their full potential to think, learn and develop.
The federal school breakfast and lunch programs feed children at school but not on weekends. Recognizing the tremendous need, the Board of Directors of the Fondy Food Pantry established Food for Thought.
This unique program is dedicated to reducing hunger and academic risk facing elementary children in the greater Fond du Lac area by providing healthy meals to build strong minds.
Food for Thought provides nutritious and child-pleasing nonperishable breakfasts, lunches and snacks for elementary children on the weekends and holidays during the school year. Recipients are qualifying children who meet the federal eligibility requirements for free and reduced lunches.
Food for Thought fed 680 students during the 2017-2018 school year. If you want to learn more about the program, feel free to contact the Pantry and ask for Mallory Gilbertson, Vice President of the Fondy Food Pantry and Food For Thought Coordinator.
