The walk-in pantry has a cooler and a freezer section, as well as shelves holding nonperishable food items. All the food will be organized according to the categories recommended by Myplate.gov. A shopping host will help the client/family by telling them how many items they may have out of each category. They may be able to recommend different ways to prepare certain foods, help people who have food allergies, or explain better food choices to people with diabetes, etc.
When a client has finished shopping they will push their cart onto a scale which will weigh the amount of food they are receiving. They will then take their food out of the cart and put it in boxes or bags to take to their car or out to the bus stop.
